Thoughts from the Admin

While we were working on our previous site, the failed tech news community, we thought lots about what else we could do. We considered a Newsvibes/Pageflakes competitior for a while but after a while we realised we wanted a simple site, that required less administration and didnt require us to copy and paste from other sites.

We looked around, and its clear Techmeme is the current leader, and justifiably. Howevers its not perfect, there is plenty of other news that is not picked up and most of its traffic comes from Techcrunch, its not a particulary fair representation of tech news.

Whilst TTi is young, the development team is small and focused and we have a number of features in the pipeline. At the moment we are focused on optimizing the TTi_Bot and preparing the site for launch.

As the internet and tech community continues to develop at the current fast pace, a lot of changes will occur over the next few months. The announcement of Live Mesh is Microsofts attempt to unify information and resources across your devices, and access the your information will become a bigger issue. We plan to incorporate a new system on TTi wherby you can better pick the news you want, and then have it delievered through a number of information systems, including RSS, Email, IM, Twitter Posts and more.

Welcome to the New TTI Blog

Welcome to TheThirdEye.org – The new tech news aggregator. As some of you may know, thethirdeye.org has taken on a number of identities ranging from the inital SourceCentral, then into a tech news community and finally into our best project yet! We realised that manual work was so web 1.0 so we decided to create the best place to get all of the best and most interesting tech news. The site is constantly updating, with the TTi_Bot crawling around 50 sites as of now, and expanding every day. Whilst the bot is currently fairly basic, we are planning on adding a range of new features including the ability to find news itself from sites that its never been on before.

We hope for success with this site and we really feel it has the potential to become popular. The site is very simple and we have a range of expansionary ideas including Desktop client, Facebook apps, iPhone App and many others.

We are always looking for extra hands, and if anyone is interested in any aspect of the site please contact the team at admin@thethirdeye.org
